How To Install & Play Ngage Games On S60 Devices by brainrex

procedures/steps to follow flashing using Pheonix for Symbian^3 phones...
If I have missed any steps or anything, please feel free to suggest me and I will add the same in my steps here.

Notes:

a. Flash at your own risk, uploader bears no responsibility for any problem(s) occurring to your device due to flashing...
b. Uninstalling is only possible after the first Restart of phone!
c. The internal file manager does not show the system folder (have deliberately left out)
d. Windows XP 32 Bit is the best OS for flashing with Pheonix
e. Its better to turn off antivirus while flashing
f. Press *#0000# to see your Product Code
g. In photos, RM-596 FW is taken as an example, u can take any Symbiandevice and fw
h. and make sure you are not downgrading i.e flashing the lower version than the current device version
i. make sure you are not flashing an edited rofs2 or rofs3....

Basic requirements:

i.) Download NaviFirm from here and Pheonix from here (Pheonix is 2010 version, for me it is the best version as till now I didn't face any problem with this one)...

ii.) Open NaviFirm which u downloaded from the above link, select your device + product code [see note f] and download the following 9 files (while downloading, focus on the extensions, which I have mentioned in bold letters below and keep an extra backup of these Original Files):
1. 0x0-0xxxx0_Pxxxx_00x.xml (Type Label Configuration)
2. 0xxxx0vx.pcx (Type Label Picture)
3. RM-xxx_014.002_14.0x_xxx_x_79.92_prd.rofs2.fpsx
4. RM-xxx_014.002_79.92_prd.core.fpsx
5. RM-xxx_014.002_Cxx.xx_xxx_1_xxx_79.92_prd.rofs3.fpsx
6. RM-xxx_014.002_Uxx.xx_79.92_prd.uda.fpsx (Content)
7. RM-xxx_0xxxxxx_014.002_00x.dcp
8. RM-xxx_0xxxxxx_014.002_00x.vpl
9. RM-xxx_0xxxxxx_014.002_00x_signature.bin

Sometimes it may not show you the 9 files which is mentioned above and may show only 6 files... In this case try to switch between the Nokia Care and Product External, as sometimes one of these source will have full files... See an example below for understanding:

iii.) Turn off your Antivirus, install the Pheonix which u have downloaded from the above link and restart ur system...

Now u r ready for flashing, follow the brief steps below CAREFULLY to avoid frustration and problems...

Brief steps of flashing to solve the crc checksum error:

1. Rename the provided uda file to your uda file name 'RM-xxx_014.002_U0x.0x_xx.xx_prd.uda.fpsx'
2. Copy paste the original 9 firmware files which u have downloaded through NaviFirm to C:/Program Files/Nokia/Phoenix/Products/RM-xxx/
3. Connect ur device (C7/N8/E7/xx) through Ovi Suite and wait if any drivers’ installation is in progress
4. When driver installation in done and it shows that drivers are up-to-date, then execute Phoenix (better right click and run as administrator)

Name: 1.jpg
Views: 4129
Size: 29.3 KB

5. Go to Manage Connection > USBx - RM-xxx

Name: 2.jpg
Views: 4150
Size: 29.5 KB

6. Go to File > Scan Product > and wait until the bottom bar of the phoenix says ready and will display your phone's connection

Name: 3.jpg
Views: 4147
Size: 36.1 KB

Name: 4.jpg
Views: 4148
Size: 25.9 KB

7. Go to Flashing > Firmware Update > Choose your product code (05xxxxx)

Name: 5.jpg
Views: 4150
Size: 23.7 KB

8. Press Refurbish button!

9. There will be a warning about the file is not complete / missing bla..bla..bla.. (this step is important)

10. This is very important!!! Don’t press anything in Pheonix yet and go to the provided hacked uda!
11. Copy paste the provided CFW / hacked UDA file (that has been renamed) to C:/Program Files/Nokia/Phoenix/Products/RM-xxx/ and overwrite it
12. Now come back to Phoenix and press ‘YES’...

13. Wait for sometimes until flashing process completes... And then, u r Done!

Ur fone is hacked with the latest FW!!

Brief Flashing / Hacking Guide for Symbain^3 phones using Pheonix by Zeeshu007

First of all SALUTE to all those who made this sort of stuff possible..!!! AND Khantastic, mobileping for sharing

Disclaimer:
Do all the flashing at your own risk, you may damage your phone if done wrongly!

This Guide has been created using Nokia 5800, but can be followed to flash any firmware for any device. (doesn't mean you can flash E72 fw in X6..etc)

Now back to Topic

First you have to download your firmware files using navifirm then copy all files to:
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nokia\DataPackage\Products\RM-***\"

RM-*** must be renamed to your RM version

Then you have to download the hacked or customized firmware files you want to flash into your device...

Rename those downloaded files to the one your actual firmware files are of.. e.g. if your genuine file name is abc.fpsx and asdf.V03 and the hacked or customized firmware files have name aaa.fpsx and bbb.V22 then rename those files to abc.fpsx and asdf.V03

Copy those renamed files to "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nokia\DataPackage\Products\RM-***\"
and overwrite.

Download & launch JAF v.1.98.62.exe

Set options like in picture below:
that is
uncheck all boxes on bb5 tab except "manual flash", "dead usb" and "normal mode"....

then check "use ini" and wait for pop up box to show up...
And select your phone:

if your device is not listed, simply follow the steps mentioned at the end of the thread

JAF will load files copied to "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nokia\DataPackage\Products\RM-***\" (on picture is RM-504 but it have to be RM-***)

or from

C:\Program Files\Nokia\Phoenix\Products\RM-555\ (mostly this)

*** corresponds to your RM version

JAF will looks like

Now TURN OFF your phone !! and then click FLASH button after that press power button (don't hold it) on your phone and JAF will start flashing.

Now wait for flash to finish and boot up your device, if it doesn't then, turn your device on yourself.. and follow all the steps (if any) mentioned in respective firmware thread to be followed after flash..

An alternate Way of using jaf (video guide)

Download JAF
If your device is not Listed

1. unrar the file "ini.rar"
2. open the folder "ini'
3. right click on the folder "ODEON"
4. scroll down and left click "copy"
5. Now go to "C:\Program Files".
6. right click anywhere in the "C:\Program Files" folder
7. scroll down to "paste" and left click on "paste".
8. select "YES" overwrite all files if it asks you to do that

Note: If you have any doubt/query regarding custom firmwares or flashing method.. post them here
and never use phoenix to flash a custom firmware but if you are intrested on knwing how to then visit here

Did you know: Many of the features available on Android devices can cause batteries to become drained very quickly?

Because of this, users of Android devices must intelligently and proactively manage the energy in their batteries.

The power-saving options presented here can be used as you wish; all at the same time, individually or in any desired combination.

Ask your phone what is using the largest percentages of power.
You can do this by:

Settings » About phone » Battery use.
If you ask Android what's using what percentage of available battery power, it will tell you. The vast majority of the time the biggest power hog is the display.

Turn off the wireless feature when not needed.
Follow these steps:

Settings » Wireless controls » WiFi, or get the Wireless Settings free app.
The wireless networking transmitter uses quite a bit of power. Even when the device is not connected to a network, it will continue to search for one on a regular basis.

Turn off the Bluetooth feature when not needed.
You can achieve this by:

Settings » Wireless controls » Bluetooth.
For the same reasons as you should turn off WiFi, turn off the Bluetooth feature if you are not using it.

Reduce the brightness of your display.
You can do this by:

Settings » Sound & Display » Brightness.
Most people can see an Android display quite well with the backlighting feature turned off. Move the slider all the way to the left, and then try using the device that way. If you can't see it well in that setting, move the slider to the right only as far as necessary to view the display comfortably. It can also work properly on iPod touch.

If your device has an AMOLED screen, always use a black background

AMOLED screens can reduce power usage sevenfold by displaying black instead of white or any other color. When searching on your phone you can also use Black Google Mobile at bGoog.com to get standard Google results, including images, all in black.

Set your screen timeout to the shortest length possible.
Follow these steps:

Settings » Sound & display » Screen timeout.
This setting tells the device to turn off the screen after the selected period of inactivity. The shorter the period, the less power your display will use. The setting options vary from phone to phone.

Turn off the GPS.
Follow these steps:

Settings » Security & location » Enable GPS satellites.
When the GPS receiver in your Android device is active it looks for satellites, and its processor prepares information to be sent to any application that needs it, regardless of whether an application that uses the GPS is running or not. If you are not navigating, turn off GPS and let the device use whatever alternative location services your wireless network provider may offer.

Use the Power Control widget

Home screen » Menu » Add » Widgets » Power control.
As of Android 1.6, there is a widget that you can place on any one of your home screens that gives you quick control buttons for WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, Push sync, and screen brightness (three levels). Use this to control your settings and turn them off to save battery power, as stated above. This is a nice easy shortcut.

Turn off the phone vibration function.
Follow these steps:

Settings » Sound & display » Phone vibrate.
The tiny device inside your phone that generates the vibration uses power every time it is activated. Alternatively, set the ringer volume all the way off, past the Vibrate setting.

Install a power management app on your device

There are several apps in the Android Market that specialize on managing power on Android devices. Most do this by controlling the activation and deactivation of systems on the device that consume power, such as the radio, screen, data and GPS. Some allow you to select how aggressively the app will control power. Search for "power manager" on the Android Market for some examples.

Do not leave applications running when you don't need them.

Close them and return to the home screen. It really works well in saving batteries life.

Put your phone on standby mode when you are not using it

Simply press the red "End call" key and the display will darken. Press it again and it will light up.

Put the device in "Airplane Mode" while on an airline flight.
Press and hold the "End call" key until a menu is displayed. Select the mode to turn off your phone's transmitter. This will allow you to use the phone while in flight. Of course, if you don't plan to use the phone, turning it off completely by selecting "Power off" is the ultimate power saving tip! To power on the device, press the "End call" key.
However, these are simple tips to save battery power for the Android phone. And these tips can also work on most devices if you apply it. Thanks for reading.

How to Save Battery Power on an Android

Ok you have an android smartphone and you subscribed to a data bundle and feel like sharing to your laptop, tablet or a friend's mobile phone.
Im glad to tell you that you can easily share the connection to your gadgets, with this you can browse free on your ipad with a wifi connection just your mobile phone, and you can share to all devices having wlan.
The wireless access point functionality on the android phone makes this possible, To use this function you gotta have a 3g package that sends and receiving data. My advice go for an unlimited plan to ensure you get no surprise when using it.

Enable wireless access point in your Android phone

Step 1: On your Android phone, go to Settings
Step 2: Now choose Wireless and networks.
Step 3: Go to the section Access point settings.
Step 4: Inside field Router name (SSID), give a name to identify the access point that you create (no accents or special characters)
Step 5: Scroll down the list to Security and select option WPA2 (AES) to encrypt the exchange between your devices and the access point.
Step 6: In the Password field, enter a complex password that will be required to use the Internet connection on your phone.
Step 7: Go back to the section Wireless and networks.
Step 8: Now simply check the box next to Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot to activate your access point

Connect to access point

Now that your phone acts as a gateway to the Internet, you will be able to connect to it via Wi-Fi from your laptop, tablet or other phone, and enjoy your Internet connection .
Step 1: On your computer, tablet or phone, look for available WiFi connections.
Step 2: Select your access point.
Step 3: Click Connect.
Step 4: Enter the password that you set on the access point and confirm
Step 5: The connection to the Internet via the access point on your Android phone is established.
Step 6: On your phone, access point Wi-Fi is active.
Step 7: You can now browse the Internet on your computer or tablet by connecting on your smartphone
